Cairn secured the first competitive 3 points in Airdrie in over 80 years. The Airdrie men started quickly with efforts from Missanjo, Harty and Murphy all going close. The home team found themselves in some very good positions but poor finishing and decision making let them down. In 30 minutes they deservedly took the lead. Lee Pettigrew ventured down the left before cutting in and curling the ball past the keeper. 1 v 0. Cairn really should have been way out of sight by half time and the nerves were shattered by all involved. HT 1 v 0

Second half seen Lanark come back into it but without really creating much. Gartcairns back 4 were outstanding and keeper Martin Meek secured his area all day. Every player worked hard and Gartcairn should have killed the game off not once but twice but poor finishing and some good goalkeeping kept the score at 1 v 0

Game ended and now see’s Cairn only 5 points off the top of the league with 5 games remaining. Vale Of Leven at home next Saturday in another must win game.
